Connecting Redgate Monitor to its data repository using Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) authentication

1. Install Redgate Monitor using Windows or SQL Server authentication for the data repository.
2. Stop the Redgate Monitor Base Monitor service in Services (services.msc).
3. Change the account the service runs as to your Entra ID user.
4. Go to the configuration folder you chose during installation. By default this is C:\ProgramData\Red Gate\Redgate Monitor (ProgramData is often hidden).
5. Open RedGate.Monitor.BaseMonitor.exe.settings.config in a text editor and find the DataConnectionString entry in the <connectionStrings> section near the end of the file.
6. Replace Integrated Security=True; (Windows auth) or User Id=myuser; Password=mypassword; (SQL auth) with Authentication=Active Directory Integrated;.

Example:

Before: <add name="DataConnectionString" connectionString="Data Source=MACHINENAME\SQLInstancename;Initial Catalog=RedgateMonitor;Integrated Security=True;Application Name="Redgate Monitor - Repository""/>

After: <add name="DataConnectionString" connectionString="Data Source=MACHINENAME\SQLInstancename;Initial Catalog=RedgateMonitor;Authentication=Active Directory Integrated;Application Name="Redgate Monitor - Repository""/>

Save the file and start the Redgate Monitor Base Monitor service.
