For ease of use, Redgate recommends running the SQL Monitor Base Monitor Service using a domain
service account with adequate permissions as specified here. We recommended using this account to connect to the monitored servers with additional permissions specified here.
The benefits of this set up are:
- Easily register remote servers in SQL Monitor.
- Easier password management; use a single password that can be updated from the Base Monitor Service > Properties.
- No passwords for monitored servers are stored in the Repository (also known as the SQL Monitor Database).
