Our latest release of SQL Data Compare 8.0 now uses a single folder for the data instead of one folder per table.
We've also allowed users to configure both the name of this folder and its location relative to the parent script folder (from the New Project dialog, click on the 'Create Schema Scripts' link and then the 'Edit Script Generation Options' link).
Your point about multiple extensions is indeed something we might address in the future, especially if more people request this functionality.
Please try out the latest build and let us know how you get on with it. / comments

Thanks for sending us the .bak.
You're right, it's a new bug in SQL Compare 8.0. We're investigating the issue at the moment and will keep you posted of any developments. / comments

You can use SQL Compare to take snapshots of your databases (in v8, go to File -> Create Snapshot).
Can you send them to me (alice.easey@red-gate.com) with a description of the steps you did to make it break and I'll investigate further.

Hi Mike,
Thanks for your post.
We are hoping to implement this feature in the next version of SQL Data Compare so that users can synchronize a database with a set of scripts.
Can I ask you a few questions to help us research this further?
1. What do your data scripts look like? Do they contain DML statements or are they CSV or XML files, or something else entirely?
2. Would it be useful if SQL Data Compare could create a set of scripts from an existing database or is it just the synchronization process that you're after?

Regarding the filters, if you go to Application Options and browse to the folder listed as "Filter folder", you should be able to find your filters (they'll have a .scpf extension).
From the Filter panel on the comparison results grid, you can open the dropdown and select 'Open Filter From File' to re-add them. / comments

Hi Traci,
The "view object synchronization script" has moved to the right-click context menu: just right-click in the SQL differences pane and choose "Show Object Synchronization Script".
In the next release of SQL Compare, you'll also be able to access this option if you right-click on an individual object in the comparison results pane. (Unfortunately this bit didn't make it into the Beta).
The reason why we moved it was because we'd prefer people to use the Synchronization Wizard to generate the SQL for their objects: that way things like dependencies and sync order are taken into account and script errors are less likely to occur.
Can I ask you for some examples of when you use this option? Do you use it to build your own sync scripts? Are there other times when it's useful? / comments

Hi there,
1 - This issue has been fixed internally and will be in the next release of SQL Compare.
2 - This one is still outstanding: I can't promise that it will be fixed for the next release, but your post increases the probability of it being addressed [image] / comments
