Hi Lee,
Thanks for your post.
Data Compare will check for any updates every 14 days and alert the user if any exist.
We don't do it every day as it would make our servers unhappy and could be annoying for users who have chosen not to get the latest version.
Hope this helps.

Hi Naras,
Thanks for your post.
Currently SQL Compare will consider extended properties only as a property of the table and not as a separate entity, so /Include:ExtendedProperty won't work I'm afraid.
I've added this feature request to the relevant issue in our system (SC-2447). It is definitely one of the more popular requests we have for SQL Compare (although more for triggers and indexes rather than extended properties). Unfortunately implementing this requires a major architectural change and I'm afraid I can't give you a timescale when this work might happen.
Regards,
Alice

Hi Jonathan,
Thanks for your post. I've logged your request as SC-909.
As a workaround you could click the Edit Project button to go back to the Comparison Projects dialog and view the dates from there (then just cancel to go back to the main grid without having to do a re-compare).
I know this isn't ideal and we'll consider your request for a future release (especially if more people would also find it useful).
Thanks,
Alice

Hi SQLGuru,
Thanks for your post.
The name of the XML file was changed to better represent its usage with both SQL Compare and Data Compare.
The new fields are primarily for Data Compare and will be automatically added with default values to any existing scripts folder.
In particular, MaxDataFileSize is an internal field and shouldn't affect your scripts folder, while DataFileSet is the list of all files containing DML statements - this tells SQL Compare which files to ignore and Data Compare which files to read.
If you're not using the new scripts folder functionality these fields can be safely ignored (just leave them with the default values).
The warning was added to notify the user that the file format has changed: it can be safely ignored. / comments

Hi,
Thanks for your post and for trying out the new version.
It looks like we missed a couple of bugs surrouding the Data Compare options, including the 'Reseed Identity Columns' option, which currently will always reseed identity columns regardless of whether or not this option is selected.
We'll try and fix this issue and get a new build out soon.
In the meantime, a workaround would be to go to the Tables & Views tab and deselect the tables you want to exclude. / comments

Hi Scott,
Thanks for reporting this issue.
Our testers discovered a couple of problems surrounding the options for Data Compare but unfortunately it was just after we'd published the 8.0.0.556 release.
We'll do our best to address these problems and try to get a new build out soon.
I'm glad your other issue was fixed though - keep the feedback coming. / comments

Hi,
Thanks for your post.
If you're using SQL Data Compare 7, you can edit the paths stored in the registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Red Gate\SQL Data Compare 7\UI\ProjectDirectoryHistory.
If you're using SQL Data Compare 8 (EAP), the key is HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Red Gate\SQL Data Compare 8\MostRecentlyUsedFiles.
Just remove the ones that you don't need anymore.
Hope this helps,

Our latest build (556) now has a Schema column in the Tables & Views tab.
Hopefully this will make comparing objects with the same names in different schemas less painful.
Please try it out and let us know how you get on with it. / comments
