Am trying to deactivate a serial on a previous development machine that was re-installed.

I have downloaded the deactivation tool, but it is not showing any serials to deactivate.

How do I go about it?

    Hi Joseph,

The deactivation tool picks up Red Gate licenses that it finds on the computer, so after you have formatted it, it's too late. I will PM you a link to a utility that you can use to deactivate if you know the serial number, product name, and version of the software that you had previously installed. Hopefully that does the trick for you.

I have run the tool, It prints out usage one line, the next it prints the host name and some GUID.

When I enter the serial in activation it still fails

You have to open a command prompt and run it with the arguments as I explained in my private message.

Hi, I'm sort of in a similar situation, because it's impossible to deactivate a license from my computer using the deactivation tool. The difference is that my hdd has not been formatted and the licenses are still on the computer but whenever I try to deactivate I get the following error:

    Hello,

We have similar problem. We own 5 user licences of .NET developer bundle. One license was used by a developer that no longer works with us.

We would like to reclaim the license that was used on his computer and give it do another developer. That machine was already formatted.

Can you please help us to reclaim that license?

Unfortunately that tool doesn't work if the computer has been reformatted. Above Brian Donahue talks about a utility that can be used if the computer has been formatted, but I can't find it anywhere. Any idea about this utility?

@Brian Donahue - would you be able to PM the tool that you are talking about as well? I have reformated the disk, so I cannot use the regular deactivation tool.
