@mohsin is the 2008 instance one you've connected to to catalog, or are you using it for the backend instance? Pre-requisites for the Data Catalog backend DB are 2012+ as per here: Requirements - SQL Data Catalog - Product Documentation (red-gate.com) Also is there anything in the logs: Application Logs - SQL Data Catalog - Product Documentation (red-gate.com) as it may be worth checking if there's anything obvious preventing it from displaying anything... / comments

I don't know if this is still the case @MPughASC but previously cloned databases had an extended property set at the database level of "isClonedDatabase" set to True so if you query the extended properties you might have some luck. You should allow be able to filter and see a list in the SQL clone dashboard too though... / comments

rob_w was this connection working before or is this a new connection? I'd be thinking that port 14146 is blocked if it's new. Otherwise, have you tried restarting both the SQL Clone Agent AND the SQL Clone Server service? / comments

Hey glennsharrock - just a couple of questions as this is very curious... When you run Data Masker against the instance, is Masker installed on that same server as the instance it's pointed against? Are you using the same install of DM when invoking independently and against the image? Are you running any other preparations against the Image whilst creating it? Any custom SQL Scripts or anything? If you've got logs handy for both runs (and want to just remove the top bits with server names) then I (and probably the RG folks too) would be jolly interested to see them [image] DM Logs outside Clone > The Misc. Setup Tab - Data Masker - Product Documentation (red-gate.com) "Directory for Log Files" DM Logs inside Clone > SQL Clone Dashboard > Activity > Find the Image Creation Activity > Logs KR / comments

Hey @cxc256 I don't believe you can use a Veeam backup with SQL Clone - my understanding is it needs to be a SQL Server Native .bak (full/diffs) or a Redgate SQL Backup .sqb file You can get around this by scripting the Veeam restore and then creating the image from the live DB copy and then dropping this temporary copy, which many people do anyway to test their backups so it's just 1 extra step potentially on top of an existing process. / comments

Hi @vinay11 have you tried using the Text Alpha Numeric set? You should be able to set it to 6 numbers by configuring it with the option %n%n%n%n%n%n / comments

Hey @vinay11 we can wait and see if someone from the RG team can jump in but I thought it was as simple as updating the mappings from classification -> data set e.g. Creating masking sets from SQL Data Catalog classifications - Data Masker - Product Documentation (red-gate.com) updating the mappings for values to be masked from date to date variance? / comments

Hi @vinay11 can you not simply edit the masking set and change the dataset that is being used for the Email column to the random emails dataset instead? / comments

@vinay11 if you're masking Primary Keys then you'll be using a Sync Manager rule - if you're using a Sync Manager rule there should be rule within that group which deletes the temporary table containing the mappings of PK values to new masked values - if you disable this rule as part of the sync manager then it will not delete this table and you'll preserve the mappings which you can use to restore the values should you need. Obviously, this is less than ideal because you're leaving a way to reidentify the values after masking but you could manually drop the table once you're satisfied. / comments

Hi @vinay11 there is no rollback in Data Masker because it is static masking, and wrapping all of the updates into transactions would not be practical for the log files (especially) You can of course just trigger the masking again though and it will just re-go over the rows it previously ran on. In what scenario do you think you will need a rollback? / comments
