Hi @vinay11 can you not simply edit the masking set and change the dataset that is being used for the Email column to the random emails dataset instead?
-
Concern is how to change the default dataset tagged to Dataset for DateofBirth column(yyyymmdd) (currently for DateofBirth column by default datset values tagged in the date variance format( (like 56 , 78,98).so before processing Run Masker , Manual intervention required to change the dataset to
Date Random. Here is where we require clarity on how to change these by default. please suggest the way . -
Hey @vinay11 we can wait and see if someone from the RG team can jump in but I thought it was as simple as updating the mappings from classification -> data set
e.g. Creating masking sets from SQL Data Catalog classifications - Data Masker - Product Documentation (red-gate.com) updating the mappings for values to be masked from date to date variance? -
Hi @vinay11,
Sadly it is not possible for a user creating the SQL Data Catalog mapping file, to set a SQL DataMasker DataSet of their choosing.
The masking set created via the mapping file is intended as a starting point that the user can edit.
Therefore, at this time, the user will need to review the results of the mapping file by opening the mapping file within SQL DataMasker (by simplying clicking the mapping file) and review the rules created and the DataSets selected match their masking requirements.
Many Thanks
Eddie
