NEW OBSERVATION; If there are NO servers open in Object Explorer and SQL Search is opened, then there are NO servers to select from and the SQL Search Server dropdown is empty. Obviously this indicates that there is some connection to Object explorer and SQL Search Server availability list !! / comments

OK, so if there is no current feature for setting DEFAULTS. I would like to suggest that such a feature be added in some future release. AND BTW that should include as many DEFAULTS as possible including SERVER, DATABASE, OBJECT TYPES, USE WILD CARDS, MATCH WHOLE WORDS ONLY... The issue is when SQL SEARCH is open for the first time after starting SSMS. When reopening SQL SEARCH any time after that as long as SSMS is not closed and restarted the current SQL SERVER seems to retain the server that I searched on last. / comments

I've also upgraded to SSMS 20.1 but have not yet upgraded to the most recent SQL prompt and I do not have that problem.
It's just dumb luck that I stumbled on this page and found this. I was experiencing the same issues and looked to the product page to learn if perhaps SQL Prompt was not yet supported on SSMS20... How could I be so stupid to think that a support business would admit that something was not working on the sales page of their product. Thanks. / comments

@requesttop, are you referring to the time it takes to open SQL History? I just updated to 10.13.1.31417, and it still takes 1 minute 26 seconds to open it. Running in SSMS 18.12.1.
I'm not seeing this speed issue. While it does not open immediately, it only takes a few seconds for mine. The latest version is working well so far. How large are your history files?
Does anyone have a comparison of how long it takes for the history tab in 10.12.4.29949(or older) vs 10.13.1.31417 ? / comments

Thank you all for saving me from doing this update. I am still running v10.12.4.29949 and will wait for some positive feedback here before I move to a newer version. / comments

I run SSMS under 3 different accounts depending on the environments I'm connecting to. Since the change from "SavedTabs.db" to "SqlHistory.db" it is now only possibly to run SSMS under one Windows account at a time. To change to an instance of SSMS under a different Windows account I must first close all instances and restart the RedGateClient service. If I try to run SSMS under multiple Windows accounts I get the "Access to the path is denied" error on the 2nd instance.
I'm still using 10.12.4. for that same reason. / comments

UPDATE - I AM NOT 100% SURE ABOUT THIS ONE. I think since reverting back the suggestions are not all that they were. For instance; when I type SELECT * FROM sys.objects here is what happens. SE = I get Prompted with a list starting with SELECT SELECT * = I get Prompted with a list starting with FROM SELECT * FROM SYS.OBJ = I do not get Prompted with anything !! I could be wrong but I thought it used to be more comprehensive than that. In addition to that it does not list any table names for the current table, nor does it replace * with the list of columns after placing the cursor after the * and pressing TAB. Those I'm pretty sure that it used to do.
UPDATE - I'm so sorry - I should have tested better before posting. I just tested with my standard user account and everything that I previously posted about works correctly for that login. What I described in my last post is obviously a minor problem on my end. / comments
