In cases like this, there are a few options that sometimes resolve strange issues where seemingly identical rows are reported as different. Can you try enabling "Trim trailing spaces" and/or "Force binary collation" in the comparison options, and let me know if either of those resolves the issue? / comments

I'm afraid SQL Source Control 3 isn't supported for connections to SQL Server 2000 databases - the supported versions of SQL Server are detailed on the product page here: http://www.red-gate.com/products/sql-de ... quirements
HAS_PERMS_BY_NAME is used by SQL Source Control to check a user's permissions given their current credentials, but it's not available in SQL Server 2000. I'm not currently aware of a workaround for this, but I'll let you know if I can find anything. Sorry I can't be more help! / comments

Yeah, this is a known false positive. AVG pushed out a definitions update some time Friday that started making it flag Red Gate dll's as infected when they aren't. We've checked the problem out, and we can't find any evidence of alteration in any of the flagged files. In addition to that, it's only AVG users that are seeing warnings.
We've contacted AVG about the issue, but we don't know how long it'll take for them to get back to us or fix the issue. In the mean time, if you're happy ignoring the warnings, your Red Gate products ought to work fine. Sorry about the inconvenience! / comments

It sounds like you need to set up the BrowsingUserList registry key, as detailed here: http://www.red-gate.com/supportcenter/c ... 0903000369
Let me know if that gets anywhere towards solving the problem. / comments

I'm afraid SQL Data Compare doesn't have multiple-environment support, so there's not really any built-in functionality designed to handle situations like this. Do let us know if you come up with a nice solution, but there's not much I can really offer you, sorry! / comments

You can set up a custom filter in the SQL Compare GUI to limit the comparison to schema objects - I've included an example as a screenshot here: http://i.imgur.com/zxqYi.png
Is that what you're after? You can do the same thing in the command line by setting up and saving the filter in the GUI, and then using the /Filter switch. There's a little more information about command line switches for SQL Compare here: http://www.red-gate.com/supportcenter/C ... _in_the_cl
Hope that helps! / comments

Can I check which version of SQL Source Control you've got installed? In the most recent version (3.1.4.72) we fixed an issue that made linking databases take much longer than it should have - if you're not using that version, can you try updating and let me know if it's still an issue? / comments

The dev team has been testing the latest release (3.0.5.7) by connecting SQL 2008 R2 SSMS to a backend SQL 2012 database, and so far it mostly works OK - you can certainly play around with it, although you might run into a bug or two.
As far as support for SQL 2012 SSMS goes, we're planning on adding basic support in the next month, so you ought to see that pretty soon. Hope that helps! / comments
