Hi Peter,
Yes, this is the only set of errors for a single invocation of backup.
I just renamed VDI.log and ran it again (thus starting with an empty VDI log) and can confirm that the sample yesterday is all that is produced.
We're running the 8.00.2040 hotfix to address the AWE problem mentioned above. Is it possible that it is returning a different error so that your MAXTRANSFER step down isn't kicking in?
I note from your help that you step down to 65365 which is lower than what we're using for the competing product. Is there a parameter to force a lower maxtransfer? Feel free to reply to my forum registered e-mail.
Cheers

This is a point that I missed in the alpha and still miss in the beta. The actual highlighting of the different sections of differing lines is great, but highlighting the entire added or deleted lines would help them stand out.
I particularly second the comment about spotting differences quickly.

Can I ask what size of tables you were using to compare - if you click cancel Data Compare will currently continue until reading the current table has finished and then cancel. If you have very large tables this could be the 'hang' effect you're both seeing.
Also you're both ok for disk space I assume?
I'm OK for disk space, and the tables are extremely small (< 10k Rows, under 1MB). / comments

A lot of work has been performed on this version of data compare for better Collation compliance. In your table your schema says that the collation is case insensitive therefore there is no difference in the data from one to the other according to your own schema.
If in one database you have
"Data"
and in the other database
"data"
the two strings are the same according to the collation. If you wish for the data to be compared as different you need to set a case sensitive collation.
Hope this helps.

Hi Richard, that makes sense, and I'm happy with the approach you've taken, and the results that it generates in this scenario - now that I understand it.
We have a few tables where we have things like codes & descriptions. We want to be able to edit a description to cORRECT tHINGS lIKE aCCIDENTAL cAPS lOCK, and have that change detected and propagated - that means we should make those columns Case Sensitive. / comments

Hi Neil,
This is also a feature request I've posted in the forums previously.
I know you can do this using the API, but even if you couldn't save the options with the project, the ability to save and restore option sets would be very useful. I think of it a bit like the build environment option for (say) VS.NET - where you can have a Dev build environment and a Prod build environment, with different options.
One of the new elements in the compare project is Options - so it looks like the ability to save options in a project has been at least thought about - however in a project I saved, mine says Default although I definitely have changed the options from default.

I've received the other updates, but not this one. Is it possible the mailing list didn't send properly, or for all recipients? / comments

Hi Luke,
Both the failed initial install, and the automatic Windows 7 prompted retry were from the same download.

I miss my SQL Refactor keystrokes - annoying I have to learn new ones to Format SQL rather than to Layout SQL.
Minor niggle, but would be a good option to allow "SQL Refactor shortcut keys". / comments
