Thanks. I restarted the sql server. Ran the DBCC and copied the dll unto the server and that seems to have done it.

That reply does not make sense. 2008 still has extended stored procedures and your own product SQL Backup continues to use them. / comments

That makes sense, but the reason I ask the first question is because the tables that are the basis for the compare comprise about 25% of the space for the database. So I began to wonder, where this data was being put in respect to the server and or client. The backup file is a compressed SQL Backup file located on a networked file server.

Found it in the installation folder of MultiScript1. In my case, it was "C:Program Files (x86)Red GateSQL Multi Script 1".

It may be somewhat slower on both the backups and the restores, but not even close to what I originally saw.

And so was I (off for the Christmas holiday), but I did log in a couple of times during the two weeks. With a little "work", I did get all the history showing up in the "Tab History". The work involved rebooting my VDI machine and starting SSMS 2008 a couple of times.
All is well once again in the new year.
