Are you adding columns which are marked as NOT NULL here? If you are, then you should specify a default so SQL Server knows what values to insert. / comments

Can you try removing the spaces between the : and the parameters please, so the command becomes:
sqldatacomp.exe /s1:esmith-g40 /s2:esmith-g40 /db1:hercules /db2:herculessite1 / comments

That's not the correct version. It should 818 (or 819 - off the top of my head I can't remember).
Can you exit the tray app, and then restart it from the SQL Prompt program files folder.
It's some weirdness that happens - for some reason Windows will sometimes let you overwrite files (or delete them) even when they're loaded.
