Thanks, Paul. Sad that Microsoft encourages VS integration then has only an undocumented API to support script generation. Bit short-sighted methinks.

By "completely unistall" are you referring to the RG uninstall or the more thorough Revo Uninstaller? I use Revo when I need to nuke everything because there's a defect that has no workaround and requires a "machine cleanse".
I need to save my aliases as last time I did a Revo uninstall, there they were gone! It would be a neat feature to be able to EXPORT then IMPORT -huh? Yes, and apparently http://redgate.uservoice.com/forums/944 ... pt-options is "Under Review" but nobody on the outside knows "since when"... (I have no votes left on Uservoice, BTW, even with 25 votes applied or I would have added my 3 to this one!)
I've done the copy-file, copy-paste before but what a pain to have to do that for want of an export-import just like Snippets.
Please advise on the degree of uninstallation needed. Thanks. / comments

Do you have the bug number by any chance...?
This has happened twice now, both times immediately after a SQL Prompt upgrade initiated from looking for updates from within an SSMS instance that has been running for days, if not weeks.
I had this happen on a prior 5.x upgrade but didn't report it as it only happened the first time SSMS was fired up.
Just to be sure, I just closed SSMS and waited a few, then successfully fired it up again, so the crash is, sadly, not repeatable.
I'll be sure to post again should a subsequent upgrade eventuate in an initial crash.
Cheers, Eddie, enjoy the weekend. / comments

Sadly, Eddie, "that's all she wrote"
I had hoped for more, but that was the sum total of the information unless I'd try to debug w/ VS. / comments

I actually went there first from the Submit Feedback link within SQL Compare and was greeted with a 404. It's OK now, thankfully. / comments

It gets worse. If you take note of the 2nd sentence in the dialog, it talks about not having a saved document... So, I clicked the SAVE button!
It brings up the save dialog per usual - looking good... BUT, once the file name has been assigned and the document saved, notice that the tab titile doesn't change. If you happened to have ANOTHER SQL Script open (I had just opened a Modify of an SP), THAT now bears the name you just assigned.
On the plus side, you can now highlight and Ctrl+C.
So, my advice is to open an empty query then open SQL Search, save, ostensibly, the SQL Search document, and leave the empty script open. Fudge - yes, but it works...
Now if only Red Gate had added an auto-response to this original ticket 10 months ago...
Care to fix this simple thing, please, Red Gate - SSMS2012 is now mainstream...... / comments

Hi James,
Prompting above the UDF still worked.
I'll re-open the script and attempt to provoke further suggestions.
