Why does SSMS take so long to load?

How long should SQL Server Management Studio take to load?

1. Without any toolbelt applications installed

2. With SQL Source Control (and SQL Prompt) installed?

3. With all SQL Toolbelt apps installed?

For me the answers are:

1. A few seconds

2. Over a minute

3. Never gets there after several minutes

In any case, have downgraded SSMS.

There's some troubleshooting steps in this article for SSMS performance issues:

SSMS is very slow with SQL Prompt installed

If that doesn't help please raise a ticket with support@red-gate.com and we'll investigate further.
