Oops, looks like we double encoded. If you still wish to try out the v4 EA then you should be able to copy the section from the v3 options file and run it through an html encoder. [ e.g. http://www.barelyfitz.com/projects/encoder/ and select the "HTML entities" option ]
Thanks for the feedback, we'll look at putting an automated alias upgrade alongside the snippet upgrade in the final version.
Hope the rest of the EA is better for you! -
FYI, I imported my aliases by replicating the exact structure (including the double encoding) using search/replace in a text editor from the 3.9 correctly formatted XML.
You can see how to do this by adding one alias in v4, then edit the file. -

Does this mean that while we run v4 we wont have the snippet importer?
If so then I may well uninstall too. The snippets are vital to a smooth experience. Is there no way we could have a standalone exe to import/convert the v3 snippets to v4? This is like testing a new car with only three wheels fitted ... -
Hello,
We will support snippet migration from v3 to v4. Hopefully we should be able to give out a standalone exe to get this done sometime soon.
I will update the forum to keep you all posted.
Thank you for your patience.

And can you slip in an ALIAS Importer, too, for the Release Candidate PLEASE?
Confidence level with the two proposed workarounds is LOW - perhaps when the next beta is made available I'll see if hand-crafted porting will work... -
Hello,
Snippets Migrator and Alias Importer are both available now
Snippet Migrator:

Alias Importer:
http://www.red-gate.com/messageboard/vi ... php?t=9146
I hope that makes it easy!
Thanks,

THANKS IN SPADES...
Reinstalled 4.0 and migrated both snippets and aliases SUCCESSFULLY!

Follow-up:
Looked at the v3 EngineOptions.xml and the list is in "correct XML" as in: But the same options in the v4 file, RedGate_SqlPrompt_Engine_EngineOptions.xml are screwy, as in: so I can't simply copy-paste from v3 to v4.
Until a working means of porting the Aliases is made known, v4 will be uninstalled and remain that way - a very sorry situation
