Same problem
-
Sql Search opens the tab, but everything is greyed out. I would love to get an answer as I use it ALL the time.
-
In reading previous posts I have found a work around. Allow SSMS to startup, open the sql search tab, Open a new connection to a database from the "Object Explorer" window. This gets it functioning.
-
I have the same problem. None of the work arounds work for me including uninstalling SQL Search and reinstalling the latest version.

I installed version 3.5 and that works fine, downloaded it from here: https://download.red-gate.com/checkforupdates/SQLSearch/SQLSearch_3.5.0.2590.exe

This isn't working for me as that version of SQLSearch (3.5.0.2590) was already installed before upgrading to SSMS version 18.5.1. I tried to install SQLSearch version 3.5.1.2598 to get around that, but it just says that "SQLSearch Version 3.5 is already installed".
As the "Repair" option also isn't available for the "SSMS Integration Pack Framework 1", is there any other way to get SQLSearch functional again in SSMS?... -
I found a note in the support section.
If you have Dependency Tracker installed but don't use it, do an uninstall of that application.
This fixed the SQL Search issue for me at least. No information on why this is though.

I have the same problem. I guess the ToolBelt installer is copying some new VC++ dlls or something that cause the problem. Even after uninstalling or downgrade to SQL prompt v9.0 did not help

Hi everyone,
We have fixed an issue with SQL Dependency Tracker which was causing some issues with SQL Search. This has been confirmed to work with the latest version of SQL Search and SSMS 18.6.
If you are still experiencing problems, please update to SQL Dependency tracker 3.3.4 to fix this.
Thanks,
Owen

SSMS started, I click button "SQL Search" - no any errors/exceptions but SQL Search does not start.
I have repeated these actions on 2 workstations W7 and W10. The same result.
How to fix it?
