In reading previous posts I have found a work around. Allow SSMS to startup, open the sql search tab, Open a new connection to a database from the "Object Explorer" window. This gets it functioning. / comments

Sql Search opens the tab, but everything is greyed out. I would love to get an answer as I use it ALL the time. / comments
