No answer for you but wanted to let you know you're not the only one. I've had these problem for a while in both SSMS 2012 and 2017. Obj explorer context menus take a long while to open - very frustrating. Eventually SSMS becomes unresponsive. I've resorted to disabling all add-ins. I have these problems on a fresh OS / SQL Server / Redgate install.
I have Doc, Prompt, Search, SourceControl; haven't bothered to enable 1 at a time to see which one is the offender. -

Thanks for posting and sorry for the inconvenience caused.
We introduced a new feature which is called Code Analysis in SQL Prompt 9. This appeared to have caused some performance issue in early versions. We have fixed it and please upgrade to the latest version and let us know if problem persists.
It could also be SQL Source Control. Please have a read of this article which may help.

There any work-arounds for this? or possible features I can disable with the aforementioned add-ins ?
