Big red X displayed after sync

I am running Data Compare 8.1.04 Pro on a XP 32 bit box. After I did a compare and sync and close the Success box, Data Compare displayed a large red X with the menus and icons above it.

To get back to a proper display I had to close Data Compare and restart it.

This does not happen every time, but is happening randomly.
