I needed to get this fixed so I removed this oart of the toolbelt and used the latest version to re-install and it corrected the problem.
Still not sure what the original issue was though.

Hi David,
In the case where a reinstall fixes a problem with SQL Data Compare starting up, my first thought is that .NET did not update the native image files and when you launched the program, a corrupt or outdated native image got loaded.
Installing the program should trigger a native image update in .NET, but sometimes conflicts occur when a patch has also been applied to the .NET Framework that requires a reboot. If this happens again, a reboot/reinstall should definitely sort it out.

Just upgraded 8.0 to 8.1.0.4 and now the application will not restart, says encountered a problem and needs to close.
Any suggestions?
Thanks Dave
