Hi John, Thanks for bringing this up. The dev team were made aware of this and their response is: We have analyzed the issue and identified that this is expected behavior of SOC in SSMSv21. In SSMS v21, the initial loading behavior has changed. As a result, the SOC page does not auto load when SSMS 21 starts. This affects the initialization of certain events responsible for updating icons. Now (SSMSv21 onwards), these events get triggered when the SOC page is opened manually or the SOC button is clicked. In saying this, you will need to continue your method to show the green icons going forward. / comments

Hi Steve, No additional steps are required on the database server you intend to monitor through Redgate Monitor. Even if that server is the one hosting the RedGateMonitor data repository, you do not need to do any setup on that server. All setup would be done on the server hosting the base monitor and web service. When going through the base monitor install, you'll be prompted to pick the location of the database repository. So long as that is done and working, you are ready to monitor the server. After which, you can open the monitor ui, add the SQL Server, and it should begin monitoring it. / comments

Hi Steve, Since you are going to be monitoring a single server, I see no issues with you loading the base monitor service onto the same server as the web service. You could create a third box if you wish to have clear separation, but with regards to your usage, having the web/base monitor on the same server is completely viable. The reason you may want to separate the web and base monitor services is when you are monitoring a large amount of servers at once. We have a documentation page here which may add some additional information for you: Example specifications for the Base Monitor and Website / comments

Hi emmar00 You're certainly correct that even though clearing them removes them from the view, the underlying issue which caused the alert to appear most likely hasn't been resolved. You can also see the history of occurrences of said alert by opening it and viewing the ‘History’ tab. This might give you a better picture of why the alert is failing. Until the root cause is found and resolved, the alert will likely stay as ‘Active’. / comments
