Hi @rgelb Thank you for reaching out on the Redgate forum regarding your SQL Prompt snippet question. Having a look into this, and it is not functionality that currently exists. Snippets currently have options to use placeholders or template parameters, which can provide some static versatility for snippets. There isn't a process to actively query metadata from a placeholder that would update as it changes. I would certainly recommend logging this on our UserVoice site as a possible feature request. It's a very intriguing concept that has some wide possibilities for functionality. UserVoice is our way for users of our products to communicate directly with our development & product teams to highlight features & functionality to be implemented into our tools. For SQL Prompt, the link is https://redgate.uservoice.com/forums/94413-sql-prompt / comments

Thanks Adam, I've forwarded this through to the development team for their consideration as a feature request. Will update this post as I receive any feedback from the team / comments

Hi Adam, An update from the development teams as they work through the backlog of bugs & feature requests. This request for extra information to determine the impact of an object dependency has been deprioritised without a committed timeframe for implementation. Should this feature be implemented, it would be included as part of a standard product release. I would recommend monitoring the Dependency Tracker release notes for any notice of feature additions that may include this request. https://documentation.red-gate.com/sdt/release-notes-and-other-versions/sql-dependency-tracker-3-4-release-notes / comments

Hi @adam_hafner Thank you for reaching out on the Redgate forums. Regarding your inquiry, are you able to share information on your use case; I would like to share this information back to our developers. I believe the process currently is to read CREATE statements of objects in your database to see if they reference the name of existing objects to determine a dependency. If you are referencing a table, it doesn't report the objects from within the database, as they may not be unique names in the script. E.G. it may be possible to have an ambiguous record from two tables with the same name in a single script. Without a full naming convention, it may lead to erroneous reports of an objects' dependency. Keen to obtain more information on how you would utilize this functionality, so this may be submitted as a feature request. / comments

I was testing using the Insert > Get Data > From PDF menu option to import the exported info from SQL Dependency Tracker. This method wasn't the cleanest, as it imported each table as a separate tab. I was able to do some automation using this method but got unwieldy with larger exports. [image] For XML I found I needed to enable the Legacy XML import wizard in Excel (File > Options > Data > From XML Data Import (Legacy) This allowed me to import the XML file and then could do some ETL processes to get workable data in Excel / comments

Hi @adam_hafner Thank you for reaching out on the Redgate forums, I can submit this to our developers as a potential feature request. Looking through our internal systems; I have referenced a few requests for an ability to export a list into Excel over the years. However, there hasn't been enough demand previously to prioritize implementing this feature. Currently, the solutions provided within the application are to export the XML and open into Excel or to copy the diagram and paste it into Excel or similar programs as an image. I did some testing and used Excels data import to bring tables from the PDF export into Excel; as a rough test it did import as separate books within Excel, but it may be possible to build a solution using that export. / comments

Hi Adam, I've been advised that this bar is a count of the number of other objects using that specific object, taking all levels of dependency into account. A feature request has been logged with the development team to provide more information around this bar; however at this point, there has not been a communicated timeframe to implement this. Any changes to this bar would be included as part of a standard patch release into SQL Dependency Tracker, and we recommend monitoring patch releases within the application or via the patch notes page: https://documentation.red-gate.com/sdt/release-notes-and-other-versions / comments

Hi @adam_hafner This red bar is the 'Relative Importance Bar' Details on this can be found here: https://documentation.red-gate.com/sdt/analyzing-the-diagram I've copied the core information here:
Finding the 'most important' objects Objects in the diagram have relative importance bars that indicate how many other objects use the object. The relative importance takes dependencies at all levels into account . If the relative importance bars aren't visible, on the View menu, click Relative Importance Bars. If you want to identify the most important objects in the diagram, apply the hierarchic layout to your diagram. The objects with the most connections are at the bottom of the diagram. / comments
