Hi PBS. In the case that I've referred to, I don't think there is a reason why both fields couldn't be handled in the same rule. Where can I find some guidelines regarding when and when not to have multiple fields in one Substitution rule such as this? / comments

I'm answering my own question. CASE returns NULL when no condition evaluates to True and there is no ELSE clause. The first-step conversion of all rows to Male is therefore not required when using a CASE if the ELSE evaluates as that. / comments

Changing 01-0013 to a Fast Single Pass might have fixed this. I'll know when I test the entire rule set again. I'm open to other suggestions though. / comments
