First Name, Last Name Substitution hangs

I set up a Substitution on FirstName and LastName fields as Rule 01-0004 using data sets. I then set up a Row-Internal on a LastFirstName field as Rule 01-0013 as LastName+', '+FirstName. This was continuing to run after 4 minutes on a 436152 row table so I aborted it which took another 4 minutes and reported an error. What will improve the perfornance of this operation?

    Changing 01-0013 to a Fast Single Pass might have fixed this. I'll know when I test the entire rule set again. I'm open to other suggestions though.
