Hi @Testuser
My sincerest apology for the delay in responding to you regarding this! I am keen to establish if it is possible to achieve the hierarchical ID data you have described and would greatly appreciate it if you can confirm the following:
- What version of SQL Data Generator you are using? - Would it be possible to get a copy of the expression code being used within SQL Data Generator for your hierarchy ID column? This will aid me in first reproducing the values that do not represent a hierarchy so that I can then amend that expression in an attempt to achieve the correct hierarchical IDs.
Again, I do apologize for the delay in reaching to you regarding this!

Hi @spivonious
Thanks for reaching out regarding this. SQL Backup is still very much maintained and supported, with the latest update (v10.1.8) being released on 1st April 2021. This version can be downloaded from here: https://download.red-gate.com/checkforupdates/SQLBackup/SQLBackup_10.1.8.1596.exe. As mentioned by @petey2, release notes can be accessed here: https://documentation.red-gate.com/sbu/release-notes-and-other-versions/sql-backup-pro-10-1-release-notes
I hope this helps, however please do reach out to us again if you would like to discuss this any further.

Hi @Gail
Thanks for reaching out to us on this. Please correct me if I am misunderstanding your query, but I think you are looking to copy the data from your History table(s)? If that is the
case then unfortunately this is currently not possible in SQL Data Compare, as it can only copy the data from the 'parent' table.

Hi @pkmccarthy
Thanks for your question on this.
Unfortunately it is not currently possible to change the location of where SQL Prompt creates these files.
If you would like to log a feature request for this, you can do so via our User Voice forum: https://redgate.uservoice.com/forums/94413-sql-prompt . Our development team can then review this alongside other logged feature requests.

Hi @kilokiloj
I'm sorry to hear of this issue! Thanks for reaching out to us regarding this. Please can you confirm what version of SQL Prompt you are currently using? Also, if you navigate to %LOCALAPPDATA%\Red Gate\SQL Prompt X , do you see the file 'SavedTabs.db'?

Hi @madrianr
Sorry for the delay in responding to you on this. What you are trying to achieve should be the expected behavior of SQL Compare (SQL Compare should change the schema but leave permissions unchanged). Given that, I think it would be good for me to attempt to reproduce the issue you are seeing, it would be helpful for me to know the exact steps you took. Would you mind listing these out please? Once I have replicated this issue I will look to engage with our development team on this.
Also just a thought: you could apply permissions
to roles instead of directly to users, in conjunction with the 'Ignore User
Permissions' and 'Role Memberships' options.

Hi @madrianr
Thanks for reaching out to us regarding this. Within the SQL Compare comparison options there is an option to toggle between ignoring user' permissions and not ignoring them. Does this option help you in achieving what you need to?

Please let me know if this does not answer your question so that we can further advise you on this.

Hi @vjacob1
Thank you for providing the latest log file, I am reviewing this now. I just wanted to check, are the replication steps outlined below a correct representation of the scenario in which you are seeing this issue with SQL Search?:
- Connected to VPN (to the Redgate office network) - RDP'd onto a PC sat in the office - Launched SSMS (15.0.18) - Test 1 - SQL Search v3.5.5 - we performed a search, after indexing for around 30 seconds search results are produced. - Test 2 - SQL Search v.3.5.3 - Same search as above, same result (search results are produced)

Hi @vjacob1
I'm afraid again we are not seeing the same issue you are reporting with SQL Search.
It could be that we are not quite replicating your scenario, we did the following:
- Connected to VPN (to the Redgate office network) - RDP'd onto a PC sat in the office - Launched SSMS (15.0.18) - Test 1 - SQL Search v3.5.5 - we performed a search, after indexing for around 30 seconds search results are produced. - Test 2 - SQL Search v.3.5.3 - Same search as above, same result (search results are produced)
Is there anything we should have done differently to the above steps?
One question that came out of our discussion this morning was around the size of the database you are searching on. Is it a particularly large database?
