Great - thanks for letting me know. :-)
Actually I had a similar experience with the bug described in this thread. It only occurred when I opened a DB connection before opening SQL Search. http://www.red-gate.com/MessageBoard/vi ... hp?t=20504
Perhaps you can avoid your workaround with the fixed version: http://www.red-gate.com/products/sql-de ... -search/v2

Please could you delete C:\ProgramData\Red Gate\SIPFw then repair the SIPFw installation.
Let me know what happens.

Hi Karel,
I'm going to send you a PM, so we can try to sort this out over email.

Hi PDinCA,
I can really feel your pain. I've had a look at the code, and even made an attempt to fix it. Unfortunately it will take more time and effort to sort out than I have available. There's growing awareness within Red Gate about how badly the toolbar works. Sorry, that's all the comfort I can offer at the moment. :-(

The Deployment Manager SSMS addin adds a key called "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Red Gate\SIPFramework\Plugins\DeploymentManagerSqlServerDbPackage". Removing this key will stop the DM addin from loading into SSMS.
I was thinking about the root cause of this problem. Presumably this happens when you click SQL Search's toolbar button? If possible please could you email me a log file from an SSMS session where the problem occurs. The log files are here:
C:\Users\<your.username>\AppData\Local\Red Gate\Logs\Ssms
My email address is david.pond@red-gate.com.

Hi Perry,
The DM addin and Search uses the common SSMS addin framework. You can disable the DM addin by removing it's registry key from this location:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Red Gate\SIPFramework\Plugins
I'll raise this with the DM team too, maybe they recognise this issue.

Hi,
This is an error and I have reported it to the web team at SQL Server Central.
The download link seems to work in Firefox and Chrome, just not IE. The download URL should be: http://www.red-gate.com/products/sql-se ... n/download
You will need to close SSMS, run SQLScripts.EXE, then restart SSMS.

Ah :-( I'm sorry about that. Which application did the {SA} come from?
My best guess is that the SQL Compare/Data Compare addin isnt't as harmless as I thought. So please delete RedGate.SSMSIP.SSMS2012.addin from the SSMS2014 addin directory.
If your {SA}s still happens please install the SQL Search v2 beta. This will install an up to date version of SIPFramework and has been tested with SSMS 2014. http://documentation.red-gate.com/displ ... ta+program / comments

If you look in these folders:
C:/ProgramData/Microsoft/SQL Server Management Studio/11.0/Addins
C:/ProgramData/Microsoft/SQL Server Management Studio/12.0/Addins
11.0 has the addins for SSMS2012 and 12.0 the addins for SSMS2014. Please copy the missing .AddIn files into the 12.0 folder. RedGate.SIPFramework.AddIn is Red Gate's framework for SSMS addins used by all our tools except, Prompt, SSC, SQL Compare and Data Compare. RedGate.SSMSIP.SSMS2012.addin is SQL Compare and Data Compare's SSMS addin. This doesn't work in SSMS2014 yet, but it doesn't seem to cause any problems either. / comments
