Many thanks for the response Brian
I added the users I wanted to the BrowsingUserList key and can now browse to the shares.
However I still think there might be a bug here or is this be design?
I logged onto my PC with the service account that SQL backup is running under (SQLBackup.service). This account has administrative rights on my workstation, SERVER A (MEDSQLWEB2) and SERVER B (MEDPOLSHARE) and is also the account SQL Backup is running under on MEDSQLWEB2.
When I run the SQLBackup GUI on my PC and connect to SERVER A and try to browse the shares on SERVER B I am still getting the error that permission is denied but it does succesfully recognise the user account instead of entering b>/b> . [image]
If I add the SQLBackup.service to the BrowsingUserList key then it can browse the shares. [image] / comments

Thanks for the response. If you could log the request and we see where it goes that would be good.
I would think there are other people out there using SQL Backup in environments like ours that have the same issue. Ie just need the installer to install and create the service and replace the dll but not do any actions in SQL server itself. / comments

Did an uninstall and reinstall of the server components and working ok now
Will give it a try and let you know.
I was wondering if it would be possible to refresh the pre-release build that we are testing. 3 or 4 of the bugs I have logged have all come back with having been fixed in newer internal builds. Seems a bit of a waste of our time to be logging all bugs if they are already fixed. / comments

Changed it back to remove all except last 5 and job failing at a different location now, after the 15 or so db
SQL Agent Job still shows as executing. But nothing from SQL Backup [image] / comments

Did a quick stop start of the SQL Server agent and SQL Backup service.
On trying to restart the SQL Backup service I got the following error in the event log
SQL Backup Agent startup error: error initialising IPC objects. Error creating mutex (already exists): Global\SQBMutex_
Left it a minute or two and then restarted the SQL Backup agent ok / comments

I had a similar issue to the one you describe with SQL Backup v5 reporting that it couldnt open the database. This occurred with multiple nodes running the sql backup service at the same time and accessing the same sdf. I had to create scripts to perform the startup / shutdown of the sql backup service during a rehost / failover.
I didn't think the PolyServe IA was a replacement for the SQL Browser? It just does a NAT type port redirection from one to ip:port to another ip:port. Dont have a test polyserve setup to install SQL Backup v6 onto however so cant really comment. / comments
