Not at the moment, but it's a nice idea - it probably won't make it into 1.0 since we're mainly at the bug fixing stage now, but I've logged it (ESA-2050) so hopefully should be there in a future release :-).

Good point - I think it should be pretty quick to enable the maximise box, so I'll try and get that one in.
There is no option to add more columns e.g. would be great to search on Size and recevied date?
Do you mean to sort by, or just to use as search criteria? The advanced search options allow you specify more of these such as received date, but not actually size (good suggestion though - logged as ESA-2054!). Being able to tweak the columns more is also something we'd like to do in the future.
Here's a FAAAARRRR out idea, does google have any integration API's? maybe look at hooking striaght in??? again far out idea i know....
I'm not sure of the details here, but yes, it's definitely something we're planning to investigate, what with Google Desktop Search and the new Windows Desktop Search.

Hi John,
I wonder if I could grab some more details on that one - what do you mean by a Google-like toolbar? I'm guessing this is in the Outlook add-in rather than the UAA Service, though I could be wrong.
What about the search in specific orders - the columns in the results grid should be sortable if you click on them, I think? Any suggestions most welcome!
Layout customisation - presumably this is things like resizing columns? That's something we have got down already; any specific requests would be good though.
Thanks,

Ah, very interesting on the LDAP error - thanks. Also got the logs for the list of Exchange servers, which seems to be fine.
On your forest, could you look at the distinguished name of the Configuration naming context (probably easiest in ADSIEdit)? Is there a domain in the forest which matches the distinguished name of that, minus the "CN=Configuration" part at the front?
For example, on one of my test systems I have CN=Configuration,DC=example,DC=com, then the domain of DC=example,DC=com.
I notice that all your Exchange servers are in subdomains, which is why I'm wondering if any objects exist in the parent domain; if not, that might explain it.
The other area to check is in the Partitions container of Configuration, what entries do you have listed there? (By e-mail if you prefer)
Many thanks,

Hi Matthew,
I think a little while back I sent you an application to enumerate the Exchange servers on your domain. When you ran it, did you run it as the user the Archive Service is running as, or a different Domain Admin user? If a different user, would it be possible to run it again as the Archive Service user?
My current thought is that for some reason the Archive Service's user can't read the Configuration node of the Active Directory (this is forest-level, rather than domain-level, so if you're on a multi-domain environment, Domain Admin might not be sufficient on its own).
Thanks,

Hi Matthew,
Could you check whether the UAA Service is also showing up as connected in the maintenance tab? If it's not there at all, but is installed, you can register it using the Register UAA Service command (drop down from the Register Archive Service) button just below the list of services.
If it is registered, the next thing to check is that each Exchange server has a UAA Service associated with it - this should be shown on the grid on the left hand side of the maintenance tab. Double click to set one if it isn't there already.
Many thanks,

Hi Keith,
Thanks for the update on the search - the Storage Service should add the directory for the archive store when you create it, but obviously didn't in this case.
It's possible that it'd lost contact with the Indexing Service when the store was created, at which point it didn't try to add it again later...
Thanks for the report, and let me know if you have any further issues!

Hi Keith,
Good stuff on the authentication - glad to hear that's working now!
The UAA Service may display "the search was unsuccessful" when actually what it means is "there weren't any results to display" - not the best message at the moment I realise, but it's on our to-do list [image] .
If you could check in the Red Gate Software event log on the UAA Service machine, that should show any errors.
If not, could you check the Indexing Service status on the Storage Service machine? This is in Computer Management, then Services and Applications (assuming you're on Windows 2003 or XP): [image]
The two bits to look at are the "Docs to Index" column, which should be small, and the "Status", which should be "Started" rather than "Indexing Paused, User Active" or similar. The "Total Docs" should also show something of the same order of magnitude as the number of messages you've archived.
If that isn't true, particularly if it's showing the indexing is paused, right click the Indexing Service node on the tree, choose All Tasks -> Tune Performance, and Customize. Then slide the Indexing slider to Instant.
Thanks,

Hi Keith,
Thanks for the post, and sorry you're hitting that issue.
Could you check in your IIS configuration that Integrated Windows Authentication is enabled for the UAAService application, and that anonymous authentication is disabled?
It might be a useful check to go to the fully qualified domain name of the website and check that you're prompted for your credentials (by default, IE will ask for credentials if you use the full name, rather than just the machine name without the domain part; Firefox will just always ask unless you tell it not to)
Thanks,

Hi Kieran,
Please do send over the logs - that should help track things down. The two most common causes we've seen so far have either been no public folders, or needing to restart the machine after installing MAPI (the installer doesn't ask, but it seems to be necessary in some cases, particularly Windows Server 2008).
Thanks,
