Hi there,
We've seen this reported a few times so there's definitely a problem there. Unfortunately we've never been able to isolate and reproduce it here so I'm not really too sure what to suggest. If you're not working cross-database you can disable the cross-database support in the Options dialog which will definitely stop this behaviour.
Other than that we have a release coming out within the next week or two that fixes a related issue and which may fix this. I'd recommend giving it a go when it becomes available and see what happens then.
Sorry I'm unable to provide any more specific information, but hopefully that will help.
Thanks,

OK, now I understand. It's certainly something we'll consider for the future.

Hi Martin,
Just type the following:
ALTER PROC <procedurename>
When you select your procedure from the drop-down the text will automatically be inserted into your query window. Also works for functions, views and triggers.
Hope that helps.

Hello Wyatt,
Thanks for letting us know. We've seen this in a number of scenarios with Data Dude unfortunately. We'll be getting a fix out very shortly (within the next two weeks or so). In the meantime I'd suggest trying to workaround the issue by temporarily disabling SQL Prompt using ALT, S, D and then re-enabling once you've created the test using ALT, S, E.
Hope that helps.
Thanks,

Hi Denis,
Thanks for posting. You've actually inspired me to blog on the topic of software updates: http://www.simple-talk.com/community/bl ... 35607.aspx
The whole thing gets me quite wound up, so everything in that post really is my opinion only and shouldn't be taken as the Red Gate company line at all.
I can't really say what we'll do in the future, although needless to say we've discussed greater levels of automation in the "Check for Updates" service. We didn't do it initially because we were concerned about a customer backlash, amongst other things.
My own preference is one mechanism for updating all the software on your computer, although that's obviously an ideal scenario, but my insider's perspective is that changing the way "Check for updates" works isn't on the horizon any time soon.
Hope that helps, and thanks again for raising the issue. I think there's room for some intelligent debate around this because as time goes on there's the potential that the situation may only worsen.
Thanks,

OK thanks Simon. Just need to check this: are you actually typing your username and password into the SQL Prompt authentication dialog?

If anyone else is experiencing this problem and fancies giving us a hand to track it down please drop me a PM and I'll send you details of a build we created this afternoon with some more detailed logging in it that will hopefully allow us to isolate and fix the problem.
Thanks,
