If I can get in before David... [image]
The indexing is definitely one the things being looked at. I suspect the server dropdown issue you're describing is related to another indexing issue that's being fixed for initial release.
I'm certainly sure the PC slowing will hopefully be improved in that time as well. Truth be told I'm quite excited about the improvements we've made so far. / comments

This issue is indeed logged in our feature request list.
We've had a great level of feedback from everyone but the flipside of that is we have alot of requested features! We have people constantly monitoring the feedback to make sure anything that gets repeatedly requested gets noticed so we can think about it for the future
However for Search right now stability and speed are the two things we definitely want to have. Also when we implement a feature we want it to be simple and immediately great to use. So I know sometimes it might look like we missed something but we keep pretty good tabs on it! / comments

Hey Jeff,
Thanks for the feedback!
So right now we don't recognise quotations but it's something we've been thinking about. I think right now we don't do exact search perfectly and one of the problems is that everyone does have a different view as to the best way it should be implemented.
Some people expect to see the exact string match for object names but want substring matches within the text of the object. Others prefer it to conform to the same behaviour no matter what.
So both behaviours you describe are working as intended, the first search you do is an exact search and it will find substring matches within text with approved but not object names. The second search you do will ignore the quotation marks and just do a search on the word and give you results with object names and text matches for substrings.
I think your suggestions of using keywords and quotations are definitely worth some thought and I have logged them (they were actually already logged but I've added your feedback to them. / comments

We also have this one logged. Oddly not many people have requested this (if there are more let us know!) but I think at least the ability to copy and paste in the results pane would be nice.

We've got this issue logged as one of the future development issues. I'm hoping very soon we're going to have a form of feedback for these issues which is more interactive than this forum.
But yes, the multiple matches issue is something people have picked up on. For people that want to see as few results as possible it certainly is a bug bear. / comments
Thanks

This is definitely something we would love more people to feedback on so maybe I'll check with our marketing department what the best way to go about that is.
Personally I do love regular expressions but I understand it's maybe not the most simple of search concepts. I think if we chose one it would either be the search engine based usage or the SQL ones.
If we add this in as a feature in the future I'll see if we can get some wider feedback on what is preferred. / comments

We've got both the wildcards and numbers issue logged. I think the main issue for me with the wildcards is how to implement them. SQL syntax (with the LIKE as you suggested) seems like a good idea given the fact it's a SQL tool. However alot of people are also familiar with the wildcards search engines use.
Is there a general preference from people? / comments

Not a bad idea, I'll log this and add it for a possible future feature.

How big is the database you're indexing? 5 minutes is a very long time for SQL Search to index, it's usually pretty fast.
So on schema changes if you refresh the search (by pressing the button or ctrl + alt + D) then you should see the refreshed changes.
If you need more info about how to find the size of your databases let me know and I'll fire you some queries to run. I'd be interested in the number of objects and the total text size of the database. / comments
