Are there any differences in setup between your home and office?
- Are they both running Outlook 2007 (this problem is specific to 2007)
- are both computers the same (x86 or 64-bit for example)
If it's possible to force the managed code to load sooner then it may be possible to work around the issue that way.
Regarding the other comment i made, i just meant that you were sure the managed code was already being executed. i.e. you had started using Outlook and whatever managed code you are trying to profile. If you have already successfully used the profiler in your office then I would assume so.

Hi,
what that would usually mean is that it's waiting for some managed code to execute so that it can profile it. When unmanaged code is the only thing running the profiler often looks like that.
However, one of the developers here just looked at Outlook 2007 and it looks like Outlook allocates too many TLS (thread local storage) slots for the profiler to be able to load. This may be the problem you are seeing and we are not too sure how that can be worked around.
Have you tried using the managed code component you are wanting to profile within Outlook? Does ANTS Profiler definitely still not do anything. If that's the case then it would appear to be the problem with TLS.

Matt,
if you want to see the collapsed methods then just change the display options - see the combo boxes.
By default it shows "Top down, methods with source"
Just change this to Top Down, any method.
Be warned though - the noise of showing all these methods will be large. I would select the region of interest and switch to the All Method grid and change the display settings there too.

Hi,
could you provide a little more detail about the crash -
type of .NET application, OS, version of Office and the crash log files.
You can find the files by going to the help menu in ANTS and clicking on the 'open log folder' option. Send the text files in that directory to support@red-gate.com referencing this post.
Any other details about the application you feel may be important please also include in your email.

Hi,
we concentrated very much with online content for the memory profiler in the form of videos because of the general complexity of memory profiling. We could convey a great deal more useful information this way which obviously creates problems when dealing with offline content.
The support site has regular info on the Memory Profiler: http://www.red-gate.com/supportcenter/P ... 20Profiler
I'll see about getting some offline documentation created.
If you do have online access on some computer i'd recommend watching the video my colleague created. It's a very good video to demonstrate how to use the profiler to find and fix a real memory leak. These can be found here in 2 parts:
Part 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yZ8dC5nlhiY
Part 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bcM6DoCVtSE
Other useful videos focusing on specific features: http://www.red-gate.com/products/ants_m ... /video.htm
Thanks,

There is currently no export functionality for the session overview at the current time.
I'll add the feature request to our system for future consideration.

Hi Marc,
the current plan is that Reflector Pro will be included in the .NET Bundle.
I'm not sure at the moment if we have a Dr Evil sized 'master' plan. [image]

Hi,
sorry for the trouble you are having. Could you go to the Help menu in ANTS and click on the 'Open log folder...' option and zip up the text files and send them to support@red-gate.com referencing this post.
We have a new build that fixes this issue but would need to check the files first.
