Cheers Robin. Having read about and tried the beta V 6 I want to upgrade and need to plan the upgrade approach with the format change in mind but with the 2 point upgrades I wanted to go to a 'good stable' version. From your helpfull info I can start the planning process based on the version that is current rather than wait. SQLBackup has saved large amounts of storage for us since we started to use it. Robin, I have been waiting to start to use 6.0 but noticing first 6.1 and then 6.2 coming out I am wary that you aren't going to introduce 6.3 soon. As a user of SQLBackup for close to 2 years now I have not seen this many updates in so short a time. Can I get some sort of response that 6.2 is a stable release please? I do understand that the Object level functionality would have demanded a new release. Thanks Chris / comments

Robin, You can file this one as closed as I was able to see and get the update from one server but not from others. I then remembered how to download the Toolkit from your site. That's all I really needed as I save it centrally and update from that location on a server-by-server basis. Chris / comments

Robin, I've been busy with the latest Microsoft patches. I hope to try this out again by the end of next week. I also realise that the 7 hour time difference makes the communications difficult. Get back on this soon. Thanks Chris / comments

Thanks for your srory Aaron. On other upgrades I have had the occasional hiccup but I'm only in a test phase at this time. I will have need of a new install somewhere soon and then listen to others experiences. Chris / comments

Glad to hear that Petey. In the off chance that a long running transaction needs to be rolled back that will take a long time will V 6 wait or will it give up after a set period of time? Thanks Chris Note. Our approach when we need to take an SQL Backup backup file and restore it to another database is to set the database to single user and rollback immed similar to you. On occasion we had problems with orphan DTC spids that stopped the alter database from finishing. In fact just last Friday I waited over 40 minutes before the alter database took effect because someting was holding it and got 952 messages showing the database in transition. / comments
