SQL Server shuts down when SQL Data Compare tries to connect to local instance.

After a Windows update yesterday, I have an issue where starting SQL Data Compare 15 (latest) and then setting up a connection for a new project or trying to run an existing one (which worked prior the the Windows update) it stops MSSQLSERVER on my laptop and I get an error message.

    Hope you are doing well today, sorry to hear you are having a little trouble with your SQL Data Compare install. Can we start with confirming that you are able to connect to this database instance using SSMS + Windows Authentication outside of Data Compare? If that works without issue, could you share with me the full error output that you are getting in the screenshot you shared with us?
