Can we compare a SQL 2005 DB against a SQL 2008 DB ?

Hi,

We need to migrate a SQL Server 2005 database which runs on a Windows 2003 server to a SQL Server 2008 which runs on a WIndows 2008.

After we migrate this data can we use SQL Data Compare 8 to connect to these 2 servers and check if they have the same values ?
