How to prevent SQL Search from Crashing SSMS 19.1.56

When ever I click on the Sql Search icon, the cursor changes to a busy icon in SSMS and after a second SSMS closes.

I have downloaded and reinstalled the latest Sql Search and SSMS. Same issue.

On Windows 10. What to do?

    Hi, Thanks for your post.

I'm going to raise a support ticket for you to see if we can find a resolution as so far we've been unable to reproduce the issue.

I noticed this morning, after reinstalling SSMS and  SQL Search that when I click on the search icon, I see the outline it a rectangle in the lower half of the sceen, more to the left side. I tried to reproduce to get a screen shot but I could not replicate it. SSMS still crashed.

After uninstalling SQL Search, rebooting and then reinstalling, it seems to be working.  Still have not gone back to SSMS 19.1.x yet

    Hi @chj124

Thank you for your last reply on this.

Just to check, do you have any other Redgate applications installed?

If you also try uninstalling SQL Search (using the MS removal tool), rebooting your machine and reinstalling SQL Search, does SSMS still continue to crash?

    Hi All,

Could you confirm what version of SQL Search you are using? Also where you downloaded?
Could you try this version and let me know if it still errors? https://download.red-gate.com/checkforupdates/SQLSearch/SQLSearch_3.6.3.3612.exe
