Unhandled Exception - Import / Export -

Was trying to Export / Import list of servers. Multi Script crashed. When I restarted the software I get an Unhandled Exception Error and all my previous scripts and Database Distribution List was empty. I tried to Uninstall the single tool and then Resinstall. Did not fix the issue. Clicking Continue will bring you to the tool but clicking on anything else generates the same Unhandled Exception Error. Great tool when it works. Would like to figure out how to get this tool working again. All other Tools are working. Error Details are noted below.

Hi Pru

Could you close multi script, browse to %AppData%\Red Gate\SQL Multi Script 1 , then rename the file "Application.dat" within and relaunch multiscript. Does this now work for you?

Hello ATurner -- Multi Script comes up now without the Unhandled Exception. I tried to import a Database Distribution List (exported from my old laptop) and the Unhandled Exception error reappeared. I renamed the Application.dat file again and Multi Script comes back ok. I will probably need to rebuild the 75+ servers I had from my old laptop just to get back all the servers I take care of. Has this happened before to anybody else and if so is there a solution to importing an smsdl file so that the Unhandled Exception Error does not come back?

Have you modified the exported distribution list? This error usually occurs when the distribution list is corrupted or in an unexpected format.

Nothing was modified on the distribution list. The export of the distribution list was done from a working version before a leased laptop was returned to the leasing company. Honestly too -- I am not smart enough to open up the file and modify the contents (more like me not wanting to modify file contents because I do not understand the file format).

Not sure at this point unless there is something stored in the file I can look at to confirm. However I am pretty sure it was Version 1 where the updated version on my system now is 1.5.

Unfortunately No. Version 1 was on an Old laptop (lease return) where having an export of the servers copied to a folder was the route I talk. Not sure if upgrading the version before exporting would have solved it (It probably would have) however no real way to test it now. Unfortunate but at this point I will need to rebuild the entire server list. I think the answer at this point for anybody else coming into this is to have the upgraded version (if their subscription allows it), export from the upgraded version, then import to the upgraded version on the new computer.

Maybe I missed something (always possible) but at this point just gotta bite the bullet on my end and hope for something better on the next lease return laptop in 3 or so years.
