No suggestions and stuck on "Populating collations..." when refreshing suggestions

I use SQL Prompt daily (love it too) but now that it isn't working I am utterly hopeless. I noticed column suggestions weren't working a few days ago and then when I tried to Refresh Suggestions I see the Loading popup and see it stay on "Populating collations..." and then it disappears. No suggestions appear.

I am wondering if anybody has any workarounds on how to fix this?

Versions
SQL Prompt: 10.12.1.28146
SMSS: 18.12.1

    Hi @beaudetious

I'm sorry you are seeing this issue with SQL Prompt. Thanks for reaching out to us regarding this.

Just an initial thought on this, are you using a VPN? We have found on occasion that a VPN can interfere with SQL Prompt and cause the issue you are describing. If you are using a VPN, would you mind disconnecting it and trying to refresh suggestions again?

No VPN here but I am noticing where I am currently working has spotty, but fast, internet. Would that have something to do with this? We are targeting Azure SQL servers exclusively.

    Hi @beaudetious

Thanks for your update on this, my apology for the delay in coming back to you!

It's hard to say, but I think it's unlikely your internet connection will be playing a part in the behavior you're seeing.

Another question on this - do you also have SQL Source Control installed?

Also, could you please ensure Verbose logging is enabled (https://documentation.red-gate.com/sp10/troubleshooting/finding-the-sql-prompt-log-files#:~:text=and Windows 2003)-,Verbose logging,-If you're troubleshooting), recreate the issue, and provide the resulting log file?

Hi Dan, I have attached the most recent SQL Prompt log file. I see a number of time-outs reported.

That being said, I restarted my machine and SMSS a number of times yesterday and that seems to have helped. I am back in business. I am not sure exactly what I did to fix this except upgrade to the latest of both SMSS and SQL Prompt and restart a few times.

I do not have this installed.

    Hi @beaudetious

Thanks for your updates on this.

Just to clarify, does upgrading to the latest versions of SSMS and SQL Prompt, and restarting your machine a few times appear to have resolved this issue for you?
