Thank you for your forum post.
Sadly, SQL Clone has not been officially tested using gMSA - see the 'Untested scenarios' section of this help limitations document.
By all means please to give it a try.
You may need to initially, need to provide a Windows AD account for the SQL Clone Service and SQL Clone Agent accounts. Once up and running, switch the two services to use a gMSA. However this has not been tested.

I'm looking to automate a refresh process. A windows schedule task will run weekly to start/stop application services and run the SQL Clone image\clone creation processes. We want to use a gMSA for this task - are these supported for SQL Clone permissions?
On this page it only mentions AD Users and groups:
