Unable to generate an interactive HTML report

I'm currently on version 14.4.4.16824 and I'm currently hitting this error when trying to generate a a comparison results report:

"Coult not load file or assembly 'RedGate.BackupReaderInterfaces, Version = 7.0.0.0, Culture=neutral...The located assembly's manifest definition does not match the assembly reference. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131040)."

Can you advise on a fix for this issue?

Thanks,
Juwon

    Hi @Juwon

I would advise uninstalling and perhaps using a tool like Revo Uninstaller to clean out the residual files, then install the latest version here: https://download.red-gate.com/checkforupdates/SQLCompare/SQLCompare_14.5.2.18630.exe

I've tested with the latest version and it works for me with no issues.

Let me know how it goes!

    Hi Dan,

Thank you for your help I can confirm that this solution worked for me.

Can I ask a general question about the difference between SQL Compare and SQL Data Compare products? When I would use one over the other? Can I just stick with SQL Compare?

    Thanks again for your help

    Hi @Juwon

I'm pleased to hear that's resolved the issue for you!

Absolutely, you're more than welcome to come directly to us on support with any questions you have also.

With regards to the differences, the core difference is that SQL Compare will work with schemas and objects, whereas SQL Data Compare will compare and deploy the data differences.

The ideal workflow would be to use SQL Compare to make the database schemas match, then use Data Compare to match the data differences.

Does that help your understanding a bit better?

Makes perfect sense! For our needs it looks like SQL Compare is what we'll be utilizing at the moment. Thanks Dan!
