Any way to configure a custom metric alert to only send one notification email?

I just created a custom metric for tempdb space used %, collecting every minute.  I set 90% as the threshold for a medium alert.  I'm afraid that I am going to get 35 emails as each minute the alert fires once tempdb space usage is above 90%.  Is there any way to configure the custom alert/notification to be an "active" one like overdue backups, so I would only get one email once the threshold is reached?  That would be super helpful.

    Hi,
    Thank you for your forum post.

    By default, the overdue backup alert runs weekly which explains why you receive just the one alert notification.

    As your custom alert, is checking for tempdb space used once every 60 seconds.  You could try setting the Alert Threshold Duration, so that an alert is raised once the alert has x number of passes.  So if the space used just briefly exceeds 90% you will not be alerted.  Further information available here.
