Hi,
Thank you for your forum post.
Please take a look at SQL Dependency Tracker
https://www.red-gate.com/products/sql-development/sql-dependency-tracker/
This tool will allow to create a diagram showing the dependencies between database objects.
You will find the help documentation here:
https://documentation.red-gate.com/sdt3
Many Thanks

Thanks Eddie. What I'm looking to replace is a tool to "visually build" the databases. The Dependency Tracker is very nice, but it's more of an after the fact visualization tool. It's not helpful to building the tables directly or the foreign key relationships.
With SSMS abandoning the visual diagram tool, there is going to be a population of Database designers that are looking for a replacement. -
Hi,
Thank you for your reply.
I have passed-on the comments you have made in this forum post internally.
Sadly at this time, Redgate does not have a database diagram tool that is an alternative or replacement for the one currently offered by Microsoft.
I will post further when I became aware of any further information on this subject.
Many Thanks

Anthony,
I've actually had great success using Schemaspy for all this, because of its drilldown kinda aspect. For me this does everything and more, and on a scheduled basis generates easily navigable information about the DB.

It's a bit tedious to setup, but I can give you pointers if you want?

https://www.dbschema.com/ is a good option and https://www.jetbrains.com/datagrip/ is ok as well. Both are paid for tools though.

Yeah pretty hacked off about this. Moves like this always make me wonder if they bother having real people test their tools. Thanks for the links to replacements.

I just read that with v18 SSMS is dropping Database Diagram support (and T-SQL Debugger). Is there any thought of picking up that functionality with the RedGate MS SQL Tools? It's a tool that the move visual DB schema designers find extremely useful and many will be looking for a replacement option.
