How can we help you today? How can we help you today?

Exception of type 'System.OutOfMemoryException' was thrown. on a simple select query !!!!

Since i upgraded to the latest version of SQL prompt i have been having issues with the out of memory exception. Bouncing sql server helps but very briefly. Is there a way i can monitor the memory consumption of SQL prompt. The reason why I'm suspecting it is a SQL prompt issue is that when i uninstall the same i don't run into this issue.

Any comments/suggestions?

    Hello @Tianjiao_Li ,

I tried the above approach of unloading and reloading as well as removing the suggestions. it works for a few mins and reverts back to the same behaviour.

Can you please provide a different approach towards perhaps limiting the memory consumed by redgate?

    Hi @ssudharma

How many databases you have loaded suggestions for when the out of memory issue occurs for you?

You can limit the memory by limit the number of databases you load suggestions for.

Also which version of SSMS do you use? If it's bellow 17.3, you can raise the amount of RAM available to SSMS by using the Large Address Aware utility on ssms.exe (see https://www.techpowerup.com/forums/threads/large-address-aware.112556/)

    Hello @Tianjiao_Li ,

I have about 7 databases loaded and have restricted the ones to be loaded up by the sql prompt to just 2 databases. I do use a SSMS 12.5 version, however, i wont be able to install 3rd party applications on my machine due to limitations at work.

Is there any setting on the Redgate itself that I can tweak ?

    Thanks
    Srikanth
