SSMS Link to Git failes

I am trying to link the DB to Git but whenever I specify the working folder in "Link to source control", the window suddenly closes itself with no error message.
Using:
SSMS 2014
SQL Source Control 6.0.2.6908 (Unlicensed Trial)

What could be the problem?

    The entire SSMS2014 window closes? Are you linking to an empty folder in your git repo?

    Also, which git version?

    Yes - the entire SSMS2014 closed.
    Yes - tried to link to an existing but empty folder.
    Git version 2.15.0.windows.1
