SQL Backup - MSSQL "Compress Backup" Option?

Hello everyone,

Would it hurt anything to set the MSSQL Engine "Compress Backups" option to TRUE for an instance that uses RedGate Backup Pro?

I do realize that your tool also does compression, but I just want to make sure that it won't hurt anything to have this set.

    Hi bbcolo22,

    Turning on Compress Backups within SSMS won't affect SQL Backup at all. Compress backups only have any effect when the backup is taken and so operates outside of SQL Backup.

    Having said that if you do get any problems please do let me know.
