Backup to tape

Are there any plans in an upcoming version to support backing up directly to tape?

    Hi Joe,

    Thanks for the post. We're still planning the next version of SQL Backup, and so I can't as yet confirm whether or not this feature will be added.

    I'd be interested to know how you're currently backing up to tape -- eg, do you write single backups to tape as they're completed, or do you batch them up? If you have the time, please feel free to post a reply or send me a private message.

    We use Tivoli TSM/TDP to do backups directly to tape currently. However to say we're less than impressed with the product would be an understatement.

    I would like to request backups directly to tapes in a future release as well. We have an IBM TSM server that we would like to directly back to. I second the fact that TSM's Sql TDP backup is terrible. We have since moved away from it using Redgate but would still like to stream the backups directly to tape.
