how to profile a service starting up

I need to profile the startup of my windows service (it's taking a real long time to start).

When i click "Profile windows service", it tries to start the windows service for profiling. However, it times out with "Couldnt restart the service(timeout)". How do I run a profile on my service starting up, for a long startup time? Why does Ants server startup timeout so quickly (15 or so seconds)?

    Hi,

    Can you let me know what full version you're using is? I believe that the service timeout was increased from 30 seconds to a greater value in 2.71. You can upgrade to 2.71 for free. If you aren't on 2.71, you can get it from out FTP site at ftp://ftp.red-gate.com/old/ANTS/ANTSProfiler271.exe.

    i just installed the upgrade from the link you gave me. starting the profiler, at the end, give:

    Internal error 2753. RedGate.Profiler.UI.exe

    not a very user friendly error message, i'd have to say.

    Did you tick the box saying to start ANTS Profiler as the last step in the installation? You probably need to exit any running copies of ANTS Profiler and/or reboot.
