SQL Data Compare 6 Alpha

The best new feature is the compare from backup. This option should be also ported to the SQL Compare tool.

Did you try it out on your databases at all? How'd you find the other new features?

Yep, I'm using it now.

I'm using the new version to compare two copies of the database one from a backup taken last week. The speed of comparsion seem to be faster than comparing the date live. It save time too. I don't have to restore the database from the backup first.

I'll post more feedback soon.

I've had a change to use the alpha version twice today. Here are my comments on the following items:

'pivot' view for table data ... Nice... Very Nice! I admit it took me a little while to fully understand what I was seeing. I think a little more contrast between the differences is needed.

improved textual difference viewer - Along with the 'Pivot' feature, this too is very nice.

file based projects that let you choose when to save This was never an issue with me. It's nice but no big deal
