Just wondered why this thread has not been answered yet? I was told a shipping date on or before 28th October. Is this still the case?

It is now Oct. 30. When is SQL Prompt 3.0 being released?
-
I will add to this... I pre-ordered on Jul 28th with a suggested delivery date of September.
I understand software delivery dates slip, but not updating your customers who have already paid is unacceptable. -
I have posted an announcement about SQL Prompt 3 on the SQL Prompt 3 and SQL Prompt 2 forums. Let me again apologize for the delay in getting this product into your hands.
Regards,
Tom
Red Gate Software -
Posting on forums is okay but email customers would have been the better route.
Even if you can't make the release date, notifying customers would have been nice, and I wouldn't have been as disappointed with red-gate as I am now. -
I agree that notification should be going out to us customers that have paid in advance for the product. I should not have to go looking for details or pester on the forum to get an update on when Red Gate will deliver an overdue product that I have already paid for.
At this point I don't feel that they just owe me the product, they owe something extra as a way of appologizing. They missed the opportunity to make a good impression when the delivery slipped and the communication was lacking. Now just doing what was originally expected does not offset the negative impression they have created.
Fortunately I have dealt with Red Gate for a while with other products and know that this is not their normal service. Unfortunately they have now given themselves a big black eye and given an existing customer a very bad experience.

Hi Tim,
Thanks for your comments. We're all aware that software projects can go awry and overrun for a wide variety of reasons: in our case this was because the Intellisense problem turned out to be much more complex to solve than we had initially anticipated. Unfortunately there hasn't been much we could do about that other than press on with the project.
However I think it's fair to say that we could have done a better job of keeping our customers informed, particularly those of you who've already parted with money for SQL Prompt 3, and so I'd like apologise for the fact that we didn't do that. As you say, whilst there have been announcements on the forums and on my personal blog, you shouldn't have to go looking, particularly if you've already paid for the thing, and I'm very sorry that this is the way things have been. Please rest assured that we will ensure that this does not happen in the future should a product release date slip as dramatically as SQL Prompt 3.
Kind regards,
Bart
