How do others connect?

We are trying to use Compare and Data Compare to sync our remote laptop users with our centralized SQL database. We have been trying this over VPN, but were wondering what other methods people use to connect to a remote server for comparison? Please let me know what options we have!

    Hello Kendra,

    You wouldn't necessarily need a VPN connection, you can also connect directly over the Internet, provided your firewall allows SQL (TCP:1433 and 1434). Of course your connection wouldn't be encrypted; you could be passing sensitive data in the 'clear'. Maybe IPSec would be another encryption option there, but I've never personally set this up (except for practice...)
