Restoring Databases to expired trial...

Do you have to have an active license of Red Gate SQL Backup in order to restore to that server's instance? I had a trial of SQL Backup 7 running, but now it is expired, and I am needing to restore some databases to this sql server (it's to a local notebook computer that needs to be in sync with various PROD db's).

Is it even possible, or do you have to have some sort of active license?

    You do need a license to perform restores, but it's worth contacting our sales team as they will often discount restore-only licenses for dev servers etc.

    Your other option is to convert your .sqb file to a native backup (look for the conversion option in the tools menu in SQL Backup) - you can then copy the native files across to the other server and restore them using SSMS?
